Square Enix to Sony: Get your act together
BY Rain Anderson Sep. 7th, 2007

yoichiwada.jpgYou know things are not going too well when one of your biggest supporters criticizes you publicly, in front of a bunch of reporters. But this is exactly what the head honcho at Square Enix has went and done.

Yoichi Wada, President, Square Enix: “Sony first unveiled the PS3 as a mighty home electronics product. Then, after some badgering from game companies, it shifted the position of the console closer to a game machine. (The future of the PS3) would be tough if its marketing strategy is not straightened up.” - Reuters

Square Enix is currently working on the highly anticipated, highly PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy XIII. Even though the game will no doubt be a system seller on its own, I guess Wada is worried it won’t sell as many copies as he would like if Sony keeps botching up the PS3’s marketing and doesn’t get enough units out the door.

Wada’s quote will probably bring the old question up again - will we be hearing of a FFXIII for Xbox 360 announcement soon ? Not likely. But one can surely hope..
