The Orange Box unlocks at midnight
BY Rain Anderson Oct. 6th, 2007

Valve has sent out a message letting us know that they’ll be unlocking The Orange Box just after midnight Pacific time next Wednesday, October 10th. If you’re not planning to get the game through Steam then know that it will also be available at game retailers later on the 10th, for both PC and Xbox 360.

There’s also a nifty new TV ad available, check that out above.

Well, when Half Life 2 came out, it won more awards for best game of the year than any other game ever.

hl1 was sooooo much better than hl2. all u noobs who are only 14 probably havent even played it. hl1 had so many different environments and scary bits and different types of gameplay (creeping past the giant worm). hl2 was run and gun suckyness and crap vehicles and was nothing else but a linear shooter.

HL2 also has text, a script and a line of events that tell a story. HL1, while awesome, didn’t tell you much other than the occasional line of speech by some npc. HL1 set the stage for location and opened up the book, HL2 is the meat of the story.
Short answer - Neither is better than the other. They both have their own merits. They’re both also linear. Point A to B, watch for the soldiers and alien menace. Tried and true.

hl1 looks and plays badly by todays standards. It was great in its time, but if youve never played it, its not really worth trying (i tried, and just couldnt be bothered). Hl2, on the other hand, is fantastic. If you really want to know the story to hl1, youll find out more from fan-sites.
