Gabe Newell slams PS3 again
BY Rain Anderson Oct. 11th, 2007

valvesoft.jpgIt wasn’t long ago when Valve Software co-founder Gabe Newell slammed PlayStation 3 for being “a total disaster on so many levels” and that Sony “should just cancel it and do a do over.”

Now, in an interview with Edge, the man attacked the PS3 again by saying the following while answering if he still thinks Sony should start over:

Newell: “Absolutely. I think [PS3 is] a waste of everybody’s time. Investing in the Cell, investing in the SPE gives you no long-term benefits. There’s nothing there that you’re going to apply to anything else. You’re not going to gain anything except a hatred of the architecture they’ve created. I don’t think they’re going to make money off their box. I don’t think it’s a good solution.”

You might ask why Valve is bringing the recently released The Orange Box to PS3 as well then ? They’re not. EA is handling the development of the PS3 version:

Newell: “EA got the job done in putting a lot of people with PS3 experience on the project. But I think it’s harder to get it to the same standard as the 360 and PC versions.”
