360 selling out in Japan. Wait, what !?
BY Rain Anderson Oct. 15th, 2007

Kotaku (via Akiba) writes that Xbox 360 Elite, which launched in Japan last Friday, has sold out at several retailers.

Apparently several major Akihabara retailers, AsoBitCity, Gamers, Messe Sanoh and Sofmap all sold their Elites on launch day. What could have brought on the change, no games have been released that would explain this. Do Japanese gamers insist on having HDMI ? Do they just like the color black ? Who knows..

Right now I’m calling it a mystery but if the sales numbers are anything to brag about, you can safely bet on Microsoft sending out some kind of a press release about it. It’s no secret Microsoft has been seriously struggling in Japan since the 360 originally launched there and positive news from that front would no doubt be welcomed with open arms.
