Infinity Ward studio head and president Grant Collier told Next-gen in an interview published today that he believes the developers latest offering, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, is the first game of the second wave of next-gen titles:
Collier: “I think COD4 is the first game of the second wave of next-gen titles, as COD2 was the first of the initial wave of next-gen games. When the games first started coming out I remember thinking, ‘oh my gosh, they look so realistic, they can’t possibly get more lifelike than this’, but then if you look at the games coming out now the photorealistic quality of them is so much higher that I’m kind of amazed.”
Already available in the US, Call of Duty 4 has received tons of positive reviews so far. Gamers in Europe will get their hands on the game later this week.
The man also speculated about when the next generation of game consoles might become available:
“I definitely think we have another three or four years left in this cycle, with people making games for the next-gen platforms.”
