New PS3 firmware update (v2.01) available
BY Rain Anderson Nov. 20th, 2007

Sony has released a new firmware update for the PS3 that is mainly supposed to fix some stability problems. Here’s the full, yet rather short list of fixes:

  • Stability during playing some PLAYSTATION 3 format software has been improved.
  • Stability of System Software including Internet Browser and Information Board has been improved.
  • Stability of the upscaler for PlayStation 2 format software has been improved. (Playability of PlayStation 2 depends on model)
  • [Remote Start] feature is changed to avoid unintended power on.

No word if the “Stability during playing some PLAYSTATION 3 format software” update includes some fixes for the much plagued Assassin’s Creed, guess we’ll have to wait until people who have been having problems start reporting in to find that out.

It would definitely be nice if Sony would elaborate on these updates a bit and let everyone know exactly what games and what bugs are affected by these updates.
