Next Call of Duty back to WWII ?
BY Rain Anderson Dec. 8th, 2007

It seems as if the next Call of Duty game might take gamers back in time to the WWII era again. Treyarch, the developer of Call of Duty 2: Big Red One and Call of Duty 3, is looking for multiplayer and single-player level builders to join their team and work on what is obviously a World War II game.

Among other things, the job ad states: “Detail & polish levels (including lighting) based on photo reference, concept art, and design documents”, “Research subject matter for history and look of the map” and most revealingly “if you’re a fan of World War 2 shooters, then even better!”

Taking the series back to World War II may be a mistake, unless they manage to do something really fresh with the series. Is there really more to see that we haven’t seen time and time again ? But we’re guessing Treyarch’s game will be a ‘filler’ until Infinity Ward can finish their own next Call of Duty game. Which, considering the insane success of CoD4, will hopefully be Modern Warfare 2.

What’s with all these websites acting like CNN trying to brainwash us telling us what we want to play??? Give it up, would ya? I’m playing COD4 now and it’s as boring as watching the news, and about as full of it. It sure doesn’t get the blood rush the original COD had, certainly doesn’t recreat the meaning to it, because there isn’t any to begin with. The whole thing reeks of “Be all you can be”.. and I wonder how much they chipped in for it. What’s COD5 going to be, False flag ops? Can we play the police state with tasers slaying innocent protesters or something? Give me WW1/2 any day.
