Gamers who have been wanting to know more of the story behind Epic Games’ Xbox 360 & PC mega hit Gears of War will get the opportunity as a prequel book will become available later in the year.

The 352 page long “Gears of War Pendulum Wars The Battle of Aspho Fields” is written by Steven L. Kent and will be released by sci-fi and fantasy publisher Del Rey - the publisher of both Mass Effect novels - in August ‘08.

Gears of War is definitely not a game that was successful because of its story but this should tie a few hardcore fans over till the inevitable Gears of War 2 lands.
