GamesRadar is winding up the good old ‘Crysis on consoles’ rumor mill again by posting info from apparent studio insiders at Crytek. They write that Crysis for PlayStation 3 seems to be a port from the PC version but will include some new features and extra modes, “kind of Crysis 1.5” they call it. The PS3 version will apparently be just as pretty as the PC version and will follow the same storyline.
As for the 360, it seems the system is not man enough to handle something as mighty as CryENGINE2 with all the bells and whistles enabled, and will have to sit this one out for “technical reasons”. Although the game store in Austria is still listing a 360 version of Crysis on their site.
Of course this is nothing more than a rumor at this point. But it’s healthy to keep in mind that Crytek’s CEO Cevat Yerli has stated in the past that Crysis’ appearance on consoles is entirely possible. And I have no doubt we’ll be revisiting this rumor in the not-so-distant future.
