Activision has announced that according to data from the NPD Group, the company’s market share in calendar year 2007 was 17.7% — a 7.2% increase over the same period last year — which in fact makes them 2007’s number one publisher in the US.
The games that in large part made this possible for the company are Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. According to the NPD Group, Call of Duty 4 and Guitar Hero III were the number one and three best-selling titles across all platforms.
Robert Kotick, Chairman and CEO, Activision: “For the first time in our history, we were the #1 U.S. publisher for the calendar year. We are well on our way to delivering sixteen years of record revenue growth and by far our most profitable year ever.”
