THQ’s fiscal outlook update shows big changes
BY Rain Anderson Jan. 24th, 2008

In a fiscal 2008 outlook update, THQ has announced that the PS3 version of Frontlines: Fuel of War has indeed been cancelled like rumored for the past few days. Along with the Xbox 360 and PC versions, the PS3 version was previously scheduled for a February release. Considering we’re going to have our second Frontlines giveaway next month where we’re going to give away free copies of the game, this news means that only PC and Xbox 360 owners will be able to participate in the fun this time around. Sorry PS3 owners!

But the PS3 version of Frontlines isn’t the only thing that’s been canned - the PS2 version of Destroy All Humans!: Big Willy Unleashed was cancelled as well, and the company has decided not to continue their Stuntman and Juiced franchises.

And as if that’s not enough, THQ is also shutting down their Concrete Games studio, expecting “a substantial number of the studio’s employees to be offered positions in its other studios“.

Here’s what Brian Farrell, president and CEO of THQ, has to say about this whole thing: “In October, we announced certain product quality initiatives, including personnel and structural changes in product development and a more rigorous internal and external product evaluation and feedback process. Consistent with these initiatives, we have taken actions to strengthen our pipeline and position ourselves to compete aggressively with compelling, high quality games.”
