Microsoft says 360’s attach rate is a record
BY Rain Anderson Jan. 29th, 2008

xbox360store.jpgMicrosoft’s Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell was on CNBC some days ago, talking about Microsoft’s strong earnings recently. When the subject went to the company’s entertainment offerings — their Entertainment and Devices Division (Xbox, Zune, Games for Windows) saw $3.06 billion in revenue and $357 million in profits in fiscal 2008 second quarter — Liddell called Xbox 360’s attach rate of 7 games per console “a record certainly for any console and relative to history.”

“So people are now actually spending more on the games and accessories than they are on the underlying console, so that business model that we put in place the last couple of years is certainly starting to fire,” he added.

As reported last November, numbers released by the NPD Group confirm the seven(ish) attach rate.
