Japanese PS3 getting a new color

satinsilverps3.jpgSony’s Japanese division has announced that they’re slapping a new coat of paint on the 40GB PS3 model. The new Satin Silver model will be joining the already available Clear Black and Ceramic White models next month, on March 6th, 2008.

One would hope that one of these days Sony would throw out their current controller and replace it with the rumble-enabled DualShock3 controller in retail units. But nope, no such luck yet - the new Satin Silver model will still include the rumble-free SIXAXIS.

What Sony will do is release a satin silver DualShock3 controller separately, forcing you to cough up some more of your hard earned yen (¥5500/USD$50) if you want to add the rumble dimension to your gameplay experience. Come on Sony, it’s time to step it up a bit..
