Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on player price cut…still not free…Booo!!!

With the HD format wars pretty much over, it was only a matter of time before the price on the now doomed add-on player was gonna drop. Via a rather innocuous announcement made on the “Major Nelson” blog, it was revealed today that the HD DVD add-on player for the Xbox 360 has dropped in price from $179.99 to $129.99 (U.S. MSRP), effective immediately in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

In typical Major Nelson Xbox propaganda fashion, the Major tries to expose the silver lining on what has been a very dark, and bleak storm cloud for quite a while now.

“….Combine the new price with the 5 free HD DVD offer and it’s a pretty good deal.”

Not sure who’s drinking that Kool-Aid, but it certainly isn’t me. Good Luck with that. Now all 360 owners have to do is wait for Microsoft to release a Blu-ray player, and all will be right in the world.
