Disney hoping to set new standards with Pure

Disney has announced a rather good looking quad racer today. The game is called Pure and if Craig Relyea, the senior vice president of global marketing at Disney Interactive Studios, is to be believed, it will set a new standard for off-road racing with its “spectacular aerial tricks and intense wheel-to-wheel racing.”

“Pure will appeal to a wide audience based on the game’s jaw-dropping aerial tricks, breakneck racing and vast environments,” says Relyea.

The game certainly looks good judging from the first five screenshots that were released with the announcement but what the actual gameplay is like remains to be seen. Though if done right, I imagine the 16-player multi-player could be a serious blast.

The developer behind the title is Black Rock Studio — previously known as Climax Racing and responsible for Moto GP and ATV Offroad Fury — and this is their first game since becoming part of Disney Interactive Studios. The game is being developed for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, and is expected to arrive on all systems this fall.
