Black & White team to revolutionize AI, says Molyneux
BY Rain AndersonFebruary 19th, 2008 More on:

molyneuxgdc.jpgPeter Molyneux, the man behind Black & White and Fable, has said in an interview conducted at GDC yesterday that they’re on the verge of announcing a new game from the Black & White team. A game that will take the AI in Black & White and, in his own words, “multiply it by a billion”.

“In the six years since Black & White [was released] they have been working improving the great things that underpinned that game, and now they are getting pretty close to something that is very significant. It’s a very big thing. A new franchise and as close to something revolutionary as I have ever seen. And we’re close to announcing it,” Molyneux told next-gen.

“If you think back to the one thing about Black & White that was most fascinating, you’d have to say it was that creature that learned behavior and seemed, for a certain glimpse, to be alive. Imagine if you could take that and multiply it by a billion…”

The Fable developer is known to deliver a little less than enthusiastically promised, but the good thing about it is that the man sets his goals so ridiculously high that even if he doesn’t reach what he wants, the end result will still be rather impressive.

No offense, but does anyone listen to Peter any more? I love the guy’s games, but boy he spends a lot of his Press time over-promising on features …
