Epic not that cheap, says Rein
BY Rain Anderson Feb. 19th, 2008

markreinfeb19.jpgAs written yesterday, GamePro magazine will publish an article in their new issue about Microsoft buying Epic games this summer. Written by GamePro’s assistant editor Travis Moss, the article attaches a $1 billion price tag to Epic Games.

Develop has now contacted Epic’s VP Mark Rein for a comment about the article, who says that Epic is worth twice as much as the author suggests. “I have not seen the actual GamePro article but if they’re going to make predictions about us selling Epic we would prefer if they started at $2 billion. Because we don’t want anyone thinking that we’re cheap,” Rein said.

So whoever wants to get their hands on Epic, better bring one helluva big briefcase.

Epic is currently at the Game Developers Conference, where they’re promoting their Unreal Engine business and enjoying the second largest floor space, right next to Microsoft’s booth.
