EA and Image Comics will be releasing a six-book comic book series to introduce gamers to the world of EA’s upcoming horror/survivor game Dead Space. Written and illustrated by Ben Templesmith and Antony Johnston, the series will be a prequel, telling the tale of a deep space mining colony that is apparently poking around in all the wrong places and somehow manages to invite back an ancient and vicious alien life force.

Executive Producer of Dead Space, Glen Schofield, says the story of Dead Space is deep enough that it can be easily moved to other mediums as well. “We love the fact our story is being told across multiple forms of media, providing different experiences to different audiences, which all lead to the same dark place,” Schofield says.

The first issue will hit comic store shelves starting March 3rd, with a limited edition version (with a shiny exclusive cover) of the first issue being available WonderCon in San Francisco which is taking place this week.

Dead Space will arrive on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 this fall.
