Last month, Microsoft announced that they’re having their first Xbox LIVE Arcade Awards and now, after a month of voting, it seems the last day of the Game Developers Conference was the prime time and location to announce the winners. And here they are, as voted by over twenty-six thousand gamers:

  • Best Overall Arcade Game: “Bomberman Live”
  • Best Classic Game: “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night”
  • Best Original Game: “Pac-Man: Championship Edition”
  • Best Family-Friendly Game: “Pac-Man: Championship Edition”
  • Best Competitive Multiplayer Game: “Bomberman Live”
  • Best Cooperative Multiplayer Game: “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
  • Best-Selling Game: “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”
  • Most-Played Game: “Worms”
  • Highest-Rated Game: “Castlevania: Symphony of the Night”
  • Xbox LIVE Arcade Staff Choice: “Pac-Man: Championship Edition”

We all know how Microsoft loves their graphs and numbers, so seeing a bit of XBL Arcade related stats at the end of the press release that announced the winners above is no shocker. The release states that the number of Arcade players has grown 145 percent since this time last year and that players have logged more than 115 million hours (useless statistics ftw?) worth of game time worldwide.
