“Why should I develop for HOME?” *crickets*

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s Senior Producer James Cox put himself in an awkward situation during a GDC presentation of HOME when he couldn’t answer a simple question from a developer: “Why should I develop for HOME?”

Silence ensued, as Cox apparently didn’t know how to answer the question.

Eventually the developer rephrased the question and asked what the draw is for third party developers since there’s no clear revenue model in place yet. Cox still couldn’t answer the question, but asked the guy to contact Sony to arrange a more formal meeting if he wanted to pitch an idea regarding HOME’s revenue possibilities.

Sometimes it really feels like Sony has some trouble figuring out exactly what it is they’re trying to accomplish with HOME. Not knowing how answer a question like that during a presentation of your product at a conference tailored for that exact purpose shows there’s something wrong.

Wow, someone needs to get fired and fast. That’s just about the most obvious question you’d expect and nobody had a chart, graph or slideshow ready? Unbelievable.
