StarCraft II Blizzard’s “best work ever”

While talking about StarCraft II’s story in a recent BlizzCast (Blizzard’s podcast) episode, Vice President of Creative Development Chris Metzen — the man behind the storylines of the original Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo games — also mentioned the RTS sequel is probably the best work they’re ever done.

“..with StarCraft II, as we’re able to focus more and more, it feels like the best work we’ve ever done. It’s finally the story I really wanted us to tell. It’s got a lot of heart, it’s got a lot of depth, and, on top of it, it’s just a rip-roaring wargame. It’s badass. It’s been very, very rewarding to see this thing take shape,” Metzen said.

Creating the sequel to what is widely considered to be the best real-time strategy game of all time is no small feat, and if you’re planning on heading to Blizzard’s Invitational in Paris this June, odds are you’ll see just how well they’ve handled the task after getting some hands-on time with the game. You’ll likely get to spend some time with WoW’s upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion as well, as both games will be playable at the event.
