Marky Payne or Max Wahlberg?
BY Chris WilcoxMarch 12th, 2008 More on:

maxpayne-markwahlberg-mar12.jpgWe’ve seen more and more movies from games appearing in theaters, without any being very impressive. One can only hope that Max Payne (and/or PoP) can change that for us.

IMDB.com has one cast entry for Max Payne, and that’s Mark Wahlberg as our hero. Rumor has it that Mila Kunis (That 70’s Show) will be joining him, in what role no one yet knows. In the image to the left (2 more after the jump), Marky Mark is apparently in character as our favorite troubled and framed DEA cop.

Mark’s done well in his recent action roles - We Own the Night, Shooter, The Departed - so I’m not too worried about his performance. The screenplay, however, is born from a new career really only known for Saw IV, of all things. The director is even less promising; The Omen remake, and Flight of the Phoenix box office bomb are both certainly strikes against him.

I was a big fan of the game series and am looking forward to seeing more info on the film. We can only hope it’s an improvement to the genre, but unfortunately, we can’t say for sure if it’s even worth more than a matinĂ©e admission until October, 2008.
