Shacknews received word from 2K Games about their upcoming slate of blockbusters, including sci-fi shooter Borderlands and gangster actioner, Mafia 2. Both games, originally expected this fall, were unfortunately pushed back into the 2009 fiscal year. This “fiscal 2009″ year is a little misleading, as the “fiscal” (read: business year) begins November 2008. There is still hope yet that we’ll see Borderland’s touted 500,000 gun arsenal before the holiday’s end.

Borderlands is being developed by the FPS veterans at Gearbox, while Mafia 2 is helmed by 2K Czech. Both titles are coming to PS3, Xbox 360, PC. 2K did confirm that the newest Midnight Club, subtitled Los Angeles, is coming this fall between August and October for Xbox 360 and PS3. 2K is also publishing Grand Theft Auto 4, which is garnering the brunt of their publicity.
