SSF II Turbo HD Remix beta hitting LIVE, not PSN

Capcom announced a few days ago that they’ll be launching a beta for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on Xbox LIVE. We’ve seen Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 betas on LIVE before, and there’s one starting tomorrow for Battlefield: Bad Company, but this is the first time an Arcade game gets the beta treatment.

There is a catch however, this beta will not come for free. You’ll have to buy another Arcade game to participate, that game being Capcom’s very own Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 which will be released some time this Spring for 800 Microsoft Points. Thankfully it seems like a pretty cool game to own anyway, check the gallery to see how it looks.

Gamers who purchase Wolf of the Battlefield will be able to download the SSF II Turbo HD Remix beta that will be released shortly afterwards. The beta will last around eight weeks and will let Capcom stress-test the network code.

PS3 owners won’t be so lucky though, as the beta will not be arriving on PSN. Capcom has explained the situation, saying that running a cross-platform beta is no easy thing to pull off, especially as they’re constrained by resources and are already over the budget with this project. And it doesn’t help that Sony requires three separate submissions (US, Europe, Asia/Japan), while in Microsoft’s case, only a single submission is required to reach a global audience.
