Last week we reported on VGCharts’ estimate that Super Smash Bros. Brawl had sold 1.2 million on its first day of release. Well, the real numbers aren’t that spectacular, but record-breaking none the less. An official report from Nintendo shows that Brawl sold 1.4 million copies in its first week on the market.

The house that Mario built reports that out of those 1.4 million units, 874,000 were sold on the first day. In case you weren’t keeping track, that makes Brawl the fastest-selling videogame in Nintendo of America’s history. It seems the big “N” was definitely feeling themselves, using this opportunity to boast, “[SSBB sold] at a rate of more than 120 units per minute in the first 8 days.”

Now if you take into consideration that the game has yet to see a worldwide release, Nintendo might want to upgrade to bigger dump trucks to haul all that cashola they’re raking in.
