In a galaxy far, far away: A retrospective
BY Dan Haspert Mar. 18th, 2008 More on:

Star wars, unbeknown to this writer, is one of the longest running videogame franchises ever, with its first game appearing way back on the Atari 2600. Gametrailers has recently released the first episode, in what is to be a ten part retrospective, that highlights some of the early games in the epic Star Wars franchise. In this first episode, you are taken on a journey, while not far, far, away, is definitely a long time ago, 1977. And while there is a good chance you have never heard of, let alone played any of these games, it’s really fun and interesting to see where this 30 year old franchise began.

The Retrospective will wrap up this fall in conjunction with the release of the latest Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed. While some of the hundred or so games to be released under the Star Wars brand have not been the best, The Force Unleashed is shaping up to be one of the gems. Set during the time between Episode III and IV, you play as Darth Vader’s secret apprentice on a mission to wipe out the remaining Jedi. The Force Unleashed will utilize some of the most advanced motion captioning technology, developed at George Lucas’ own ILM studios, to tell the truly epic tale.

Sweet! …assuming Lucas doesn’t have any input on the dialog.

I’ll never forget him saying something to the effect of “I’ve made so much money now, that I can fail for the rest of my career and still be perfectly comfortable.” :cringe:

i know right. But look at it from his employees point of view. How do you say no to a man who in his first big movie made almost a billion dollars? All you’d hear out of me is yes a masa. Another funny thing about Lucas, when he is reviewing art for the movies if he likes it he has a little stamper he marks it with.
