Finally, someone realizes that Jack Thompson is insane |

Death monger, liar, con artist, douchebag… there are many words to describe Florida attorney Jack Thompson. Now we can add disgraced to the list as the Florida Supreme Court has officially stated it will no longer accept anything directly from Jack Thompson. This includes any petitions, motions, documents, and basically anything else an attorney could come up with to submit to the court.
Gamepolitics.com went through the trouble of dissecting the motion and finding the following juicy tidbits:
After submitting inappropriate and pornographic materials to this Court, Thompson was specifically warned that should he continue to submit inappropriate filings, this Court would consider imposing a sanction limiting Thompson’s ability to submit further filings…
Since that order, Thompson has filed numerous additional filings which led this Court to issue an order directing Thompson to show cause why we should not limit his filings… We now sanction Thompson…
Thompson engaged, to the point of abuse… in a relentless and frivolous pursuit for vindication of his claim that he is being victimized by The Florida Bar…
Thompson’s multiple responses are rambling, argumentative, and contemptuous… What we cannot tolerate, however, is Thompson’s continued inability to maintain a minimum standard of decorum and respect for the judicial system to which all litigants, and especially attorneys, must adhere…
A thorough review of Thompson’s filings lead to one conclusion. He has abused the processes of the Court… Accordingly… the Clerk of this Court is hereby instructed to reject for filing any future pleadings, petitions, motions, documents, or other filings submitted by John Bruce Thompson, unless signed by a member in good standing of The Florida Bar other than himself.
…Further, if Thompson submits a filing in violation of this order, he may be subjected to contempt proceedings or other appropriate sanctions.
Any way you slice it, Thompson finally got a small portion of what’s coming to him. However, he can still submit things to the court by hiring an attorney of his own who would then submit motions on his behalf. We can only hope that no sane human being would even consider vouching for a complaint that Thompson wants to file. Not that it would surprise me if Jack Thompson turned out to be an alien who was capable of inhabiting another person’s body for the purposes of destroying the videogame industry, but we can only hope that doesn’t actually happen. Now let’s all cross our fingers, pre-order GTA4, and pray we never have to hear Douchebag’s Thompson’s name again.

Wow. I always knew that Jack Thompson was nuts, but goddamn…that was so immature. I mean, he’s claiming that the Florida Bar was victimizing him for no reason? He’s the guy who started the fight.
I’m not gonna bother sending death threats to him, because that’s what he wants so he can send “proof” to the general public about his theories. While I don’t condone the selling of “M” rated videogames to kids under 16, I have been playing “Half-Life” since I was 9, and I don’t think i’ve ever wanted to go around killing real life marines, because my parents always reminded me it was a game. And as for “teaching kids to commit crimes”, hasn’t crime been around since the dawn of “civilization”? And the real idiots here are the parents who let their 3-year-olds play a clearly “M” rated game that says what kinds of wonderfully adult and un-kid-friendly content is in it and not even bother explaining to him that real life is completely different. While these people aren’t really all that common, (although they’re the only people the media pays attention too, because they aren’t “boring”) they are nontheless jaw-droppingly stupid, especially when they sue the game creatures and ESRB rating system for “not clearing explaining the meaning of “M” (Mature audiences, or for ages 17+, pretty explicit to me) rating” or something like that.
Jack Thompson will soon retire, and hopefully he will realize that he needs to stop exploiting the victims of violence and familys, old and young, to achieve his personal goals, and do something constructive to society, like pushing for an end to poverty, or stopping discrimination against gays and people who play/watch/read/talk about non family friendly games/books/comics/movies/televison programs/music.
