“Steel” PS3 debuts June 12th, Shaq not impressed

PlayStation 3 is already one sexy piece of hardware, and it’s about to walk down the runway in another gorgeous outfit starting June 12th. Japanese PS3 fans will be the first to get their hands on the new “Hagane” colored bundle, which will include the system, matching DualShock 3 controller, and a limited edition of Metal Gear Solid 4.

A similar bundle was announced for US release as well, but it’s not immediately known whether or not it will include the new PS3 or the standard dust-magnet paintjob we’ve all come to love. Does anyone else feel left out by the lack of alternately colored systems poised for world-wide release? I mean, it seems like every week we hear about brand new color SKU’s for various systems, and they almost always debut exclusively in Japan, and seldomly make their way to the gamers around the globe. I want to go to my local shop and see white, black, steel, silver, and every other color of PS3 I could ever desire. The same goes for the Xbox 360 and Wii. Speaking of Wii, Nintendo is the biggest violator of the color-tease method I have ever seen. The launch of Wii was accompanied by shots of Wii’s and Wiimotes in every color of the rainbow and they have yet to send any piece of hardware to retail that isn’t ‘Apple White’.

I digress. The new color scheme looks awesome and I can only hope that Sony will have the good sense to send it our way as well. Along with the satin silver model, and more of the white themed systems (which I have still never seen in the wild)…
