The original Final Fantasy Tactics took Square’s beloved series and replaced the turn-based battles with tactical gameplay. But the game didn’t stop pushing the Final Fantasy lore there, it also introduced us to the kingdom of Ivalice for the first time. And during a crucial part in the nations history, The Lion War.

Square has since brought back Ivalice three times with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for GBA, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for the DS, and Final Fantasy XII for the PS2. And now gamers can return to the kingdom Ivalice yet again in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift on the DS .

In the original game you were Marche, transported to Ivalice via a magical book, and trying to make it back to your world (a town named Ivalice coincidentally). The sequel has the same exact story, with the exception of your character who’s name Luso who discovers the magic book in the library while serving detention.

Tactics A2 will vary from the first with the inclusion of characters from FF XII (Vaan, Penelo, and Al-Cid), new job classes, new clans, polished gameplay, and 400+ quests. You can look forward to traversing Ivalice once again when the game is released in North America on June 24, with a $39.99 price tag.

Tactics is by far the best of Final Fantasy. At least this is going to be a sequel and not anther remake.
