VC Releases for the Week of 3/24/08

Oh, Hi! Didn’t see you there. Why not? Oh, well, because I was too busy being disappointed, yet again, by the VC releases for the week. It’s not like KING’S KNIGHT (NES, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 500 Wii Points) or POWERBALL (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points) are particularly terrible games but it’s been quite a bit of time since we’ve had a truly top rated game grace our presence on the VC. I was really hoping that this week would be the one to break the lull. I mean it’s been a full six weeks since we got a title that really demanded downloading. What’s Nintendo waiting for here?

Enough with the complaining though. Who amongst us has the time to play all these games anyway? If you do have the time and the extra income to download these two games you’ll find King’s Knight to be a decent fantasy shooter (yes, another shooter) which also happens to be Square’s first U.S. release. There are far better and more exciting ways to rescue a princess on your VC, though. I suppose the more Square games put out on the VC the closer we get to an FF title, so that is a good thing. I don’t even want to talk about Powerball. It’s a made up future sport that resembles rugby and soccer and football stuck together and the gameplay looks like a game of Calvinball, with the wit and imaginary tiger removed. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to return to daydreaming about Mother 3.

If I owned my own Wii (My brother and girlfriend have one), I’m sure I’d be thinking the same thing. More games on VC are cool, but good games on VC are better.
