Call of Duty 4 was lauded as one of the best gaming experiences of 2007, and rightfully so. Millions of people have played the game on either their Xbox 360s, PS3s or PCs, and well over a million gamers still play it online today, daily. There are some (like me) who haven’t picked up the game yet, and for those people the wait may have been worth it.
Activision and Infinity Ward have made it official that this week will see the release of Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition. At the moment all that is known about it is the inclusion of a “token” that will let you download the Variety Map Pack coming out on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, which will also be available for purchase for 800 MS Points ($10) this Thursday. There’s nothing else known about the GOTY Edition as far as what will be included but, I speculate and hope there will be some kind of DVD with ‘making of’ footage and the like.
Another mystery is the pricing for the game. Right now sellers on the interweb have it for the standard $59.99 price. But, unless this game is going to go against standard conventions, you should expect to see it at a lower price down the road.
