Here’s a first gameplay glimpse of LostWinds, the upcoming WiiWare title from developer Frontier.

The game looks really promising and is utilizing the Wiimote in some rather interesting ways. The game puts you in control of Toku, your typical unassuming hero, in an attempt to rid his homeland Mistralis of an evil curse. You guide Toku using the wind, and it seems you can also use the wind to affect the environment and use it to your advantage when it comes to dealing with bad guys.

We’ve seen a lot of so called ’shovel-ware’ titles with tacked-on Wiimote waggle; so it’s great to see smaller developers thinking creatively. Let’s hope more developers take note and explore the possibilities offered up to them by the Wii.
