Mötley Crüe to release new single via Rock Band
BY Jason R. WallaceApril 15th, 2008 More on:

Get your hair spray and skin-tight spandex at the ready, gamers. The eighties have struck Rock Band with a vengeance! Not only will Blondie’s New Wave standard “Call Me” appear in the upcoming “Classic Rock Pack,” but a certain hard-partying heavy metal act will also rear its well-coifed head.

Yes, Mötley Crüe will release their new single, “Saints of Los Angeles,” as downloadable content. The master track will cost 80 MS Points ($1) (”for a limited time,” says the official announcement) and will be available on April 15 for Xbox LIVE Marketplace and April 17 for the PS Store.

Releasing singles through a videogame seems to be all the craze these days. Just a few days ago It was announced that Def Leppard will debut “Nine Lives,” the first single from their newest studio album, on Guitar Hero III.

And with this release, the Crüe will become the first band to release a single via the Rock Band platform. Of course, this isn’t a new idea as thrash metal legends Metallica plan to do the same with the first single from their ninth studio album. All that alcoholism and heroin addiction clearly haven’t helped Vince Neil and the gang much, but here’s hoping that the Crüe still rock hard in a virtual world. Anyone for a glam metal renaissance?
