Yet another story on DC Comics…
BY Jeremy HillApril 18th, 2008 More on:

I’m starting to see a trend here. First DC Comics announces a PROTOTYPE comic, then Batman is being rumored to be in the new Mortal Kombat game, and now there’s a Gears of War comic coming from DC (next to the previously announced Gears of War prequel novel). Take that Marvel! Just like the PROTOTYPE comics series, the Gears of War comics are being produced by DC Comics’ WildStorm label. What is the meaning behind all this?

“We are thrilled to be working with DC Comics to further bring to life the Gears of War universe. A lot of our developers are huge comic fans, and have loved the personas and chronicles unique to DC Comics since childhood,” said Dr. Michael Capps, president of Epic Games.

I have to admit, DC Comics has been taking a back seat lately to Marvel. All we see is Spider-Man breaking box office records, The Incredible Hulk getting second life in theaters, and the soon to be released Iron Man movie is sure to bring in the green. It seems like DC Comic’s strategy depends on the videogame market. Marvel on the other hand only needs its own characters to make an impact.

Great plan on the part of DC. Apparently their strategy is working since I’m here writing about it for all of you. Will this take some of the steam out of Marvel’s upcoming movies and games? I need some insight from you guys.

World of Warcraft has been dealing with DC Comics and it’s WildStorm division for a while now

Seems like DC really knows where things are headed while Marvel may be caught in the past.
