Child rape implied in Metal Gear Solid 4?
BY Jeremy HillApril 24th, 2008 More on:

If you’ve been following all things Metal Gear Solid lately, you probably noticed a few things by now. Starting with the complicated process of getting into the Metal Gear Online beta, followed by the delay of said beta (read our MGO hands-on impressions), and finally ending up with a rather disturbing description from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

While clarifying on the rating given for MGS4 in the UK, the BBFC wrote that the game contains “implied child rape.” Surely the Metal Gear series is known for innovation, but come on! Kojima Productions released a statement saying there is no mention of rape in the game. However, “There is mention of child trauma, which is probably why they added ‘implied.’”

Metal Gear Solid 4 has received a 15+ rating in the UK which basically means a fifteen year old should be developed enough not to be totally traumatized by it. Apparently the M rating the ESRB decided to give the game in the US means we’re just too darn soft to handle it.
