Gran Turismo 5 more than just a game
BY Jeremy HillApril 25th, 2008 More on:

The recently released PS3 title Gran Turismo 5: Prologue is being hailed as one of, if not the most realistic driving simulator ever. The incredible handling and customization options make this title one that is not just appreciated by gamers, but to hardcore gear heads as well.

At least that’s Sony plan. The Gran Turismo TV feature within the game is one that Sony hopes will encourage gamers and non gamers alike to commune with each other. Gran Turismo TV will feature content from the real world of auto racing with a goal to become somewhat of a social network for car enthusiasts.

“Our goal is to become another medium for car companies, like magazines and TVs,” said Taku Imasaki, the U.S. senior producer for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. “We’re the perfect game for that and ideally we could become the MySpace or Facebook for auto enthusiasts.”

Sony feels the chances of this taking off is promising, given their confidence on Gran Turismo 5: Prologue’s potential to become a major system seller.
