Mirror’s Edge gameplay from Sony’s PlayStation Day
BY Se AjalaMay 7th, 2008 More on:

We’ve talked about EA DICE’s Mirror’s Edge before but for those of you not familiar with the title yet (shame on you!), Mirror’s Edge is parkour-inspired FPS that lets you scale sky scrapers, navigate complex environments, and mix it up with some bad guys. Set in a not too distant future world where an authoritarian (and seemingly obsessively clean) government is tightly monitoring its citizens, giving rise to a class of messengers such as the games protagonist, free from the watchful eye of big brother.

While we’ve already seen some screenshots of the game, Sony has just released the first footage of the game up and running, and it looks magnificently fantastic.

I don’t know about you, but there’s something about the vibrant colors that aren’t the usual ‘next-gen brown, black and gray’ that makes this one look really, well crispy. Check out the footage and see for yourself!

Mirror’s Edge is set to be released sometime this year for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Hell yeah! This one caught my eye the first time I saw it and it looks pretty damn good in motion. Looks linear as hell though, hopefully there’ll be some alternate paths at least. I wonder if the gameplay will be about timing the jumps precisely or more like Assassin’s Creed where just moving in the right direction is enough and the character does the sliding, grabbing and jumping on her own…?

It certainly looks interesting, but what if you have motion sickness?

I saw an article in a magazine last month on this, got me really excited. Apparently, from their hands-on, most of it is done with the up and down on the left analouge stick (on the PS3 atleast) and it is all about timing it and getting a good rythm going.
