Nintendo Software Technology
Nintendo Software Technology (NST) suffered the indignity of having their first title for the Wii canceled by Nintendo. Project H.A.M.M.E.R. was a rather generic looking 3rd person action title, whose main hook was that the hammer in question was directly controlled using the Wii remote. We can only guess why Nintendo chose to cancel the title, but having a main character who looked like a reject from the Mortal Kombat roster probably didn’t help.
This all occurred in June 2007, so expecting something from N.S.T. for the 2008 holiday season is not out of the question. The studio is clearly technically gifted, but probably lacks a little creativity when given license to come up with their own IPs. Their greatest critical successes have come from their puzzlers (Mario vs. Donkey Kong) and updates to already established games (Wave Race), which should provide clues as to what to expect from them next.
