DS gets Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
BY Luke WalkerMay 19th, 2008 More on:

Indiana Jones may not be the only whip cracker this year. Konami has officially announced Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the Nintendo DS (of course). No word yet if Belmont or Morris will make an appearance and yeild the legendary Vampire Killer whip. What details have been given promise us another fantastic Castlevania title that “is poised to set a new standard for side scrolling action on DS.”

For this new DS adventure, players will take the role of a member Ecclesia — a group that is sworn to kill Dracula and defeat his evil once and for all. New heroes deserve new action and series producer Koji “Iga” Igarashi introduces the all new Glyph attack system which allows players to unleash more than 100 devastating special attacks to take on the hordes of darkness.

Further pushing the series forward are all new outdoor locations to explore, like forests or the ocean. Players can trade items and equipment or even compete head-to-head via the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. Order of Ecclesia also boasts multiple endings based on how the game is completed.

With a new hero, the Glyph attack system, multiple endings and the standard item finding and exploration, we have reason to get excited. The 3D games have been good, but the side-scrolling 2D is where the Castlevania series really shines. Look for Order of Ecclesia this fall.

I’ve never really played all of the Castlevania games, but they have always held my interest. I enjoyed Portrait of Ruin, most definitely. I do enjoy the multiple endings that are promised, those up the replay value a ton.
