Beijing 2008: The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games

Wish you could go to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing? Watching from home not enough? Then why not get your game on and participate with SEGA’s Beijing 2008 – the Official Video Game of the Olympic Games. If you’re a sports fan, don’t shrug this one off. Beijing 2008 isn’t just a collection of sports games, nor is it a cute cameo opportunity kids game for Mario and Sonic.

This game goes all out with fully rendered models of actual arenas where the games take place as well as the surrounding cityscape of Beijing, 32 countries will be represented with over 1000 character models, and there are 38 events to compete in, including athletics, gymnastics, shooting, aquatics, weightlifting, table tennis, kayak, cycling, judo and archery. Each event can be played with male or female competitors in training, competition or career modes.

Players will be able to compete head-to-head online with up to three other players, something that apparently hasn’t been done in an Olympics videogame before. There will also be fully supported leaderboards so players around the world can see who’s the best. Take that Mario!

With the realistic atmosphere and online competition, this game aims to bring players the “competitive spirit of the Olympic Games.” So get ready to compete on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC this June.
