The release of one of the year’s hottest titles is nearly upon us, and to wet our appetites just a little bit more Konami have done us the courtesy of sending out a new handful of screenshots. Also, for those of you who have just dug your head up out of the sand, they have given us a quick recap of what we can expect from the final chapter in Hideo Kojima’s epic saga.

So, for the uninitiated, here is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in a nutshell: MGS4 gives gamers one last chance to control Solid Snake in his final mission which spans the entire globe as he attempts to defeat his nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. Unlike previous Metal Gear games which saw Snake sneaking around deep in enemy territory, in MGS4 Snake must navigate a dynamic battlefield that can be actively influenced by what approach the player takes to the situation. Finally, OctoCamo, Snake’s new hi-tech stealth suit, allows him to blend in with his environment as it digitally manifests nearby textures in real time.

Unless something goes horribly, horribly wrong, the game will be released worldwide in just under a month, on June 12.
