Prince of Persia screenshots make us drool
BY Mike WehnerMay 22nd, 2008 More on:

A fresh batch of screenshots has been been released for the upcoming, open-world Prince of Persia title and the anticipation for the game is sure to raise as a result. The game, which is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, uses the same engine that made Assassin’s Creed so gorgeous, but you’d never guess it by looking at the game’s art style. That’s not to say that it’s a bad looking game, in fact it’s quite the opposite.

The new game doesn’t even have a solid official name yet, but that’s certainly not stopping the developers from pulling out all the stops when it comes to the game’s looks. This time around, the developers went for a super-detailed cell-shaded approach that gives the game an extremely unique look while also qualifying as “OMFG Hawt!”. Prince of Persia’s new look is more reminiscent of the new Street Fighter game than any of the previous PoP titles and it would appear that it was the right way to go. The game is sure to turn some heads and while nobody is going to mistake it for a live-action movie, I would honestly be surprised to hear anyone refer to this game’s graphics in a negative way.

PoP is still slated to land on store shelves by the end of the year, let’s hope that since the developers clearly have the visuals under control that the game will be christened with a proper name before too long.

I think it’s starting to get scary when I can’t tell the difference between the concept art and the game.

I think it’s starting to get GOOD when that’s the case ;)
