It seems like the videogame industry is filled with more mergers and partnerships than actual games these days, but that’s not stopping Bethesda from announcing a newly-formed relationship with UK star Splash Damage. Splash Damage made a name for themselves with their work on Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and are just about ready (read: tomorrow in the US, May 30 in EU, June 4 in AUS) to release the Xbox 360 version of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Bethesda is best known for the Elder Scrolls franchise as well as the second coming of Christ, Fallout 3.
As you might expect, the two had nothing but good things to say about one another. Owner of Splash Damage, Paul Wedgwood, gushed “Bethesda Softworks has repeatedly been responsible for outstanding games as both publisher and developer,” he continued, “Both of our studios share a passion for creating great games, and we’re confident that this partnership will result in even greater experiences for gamers. We’re really looking forward to working with Bethesda.”
The feelings are mutual on Bethesda’s end as Vlatko Andonov, President of Bethesda Softworks explains, “This could not be a more perfect fit,” he said, “We are extremely impressed with Splash Damage and the quality titles they produce. They are highly creative and innovative, and have demonstrated a high level of dedication to their projects. We are confident that gamers everywhere will be thrilled with the offerings from this collaboration.”
Sounds like a match made in heaven if you ask me. The notification of the partnership ended with a teaser about an upcoming project that Splash Damage has been keeping the lid on. New info about said project will be creeping out in the coming months so we’ll keep you posted as soon as we find out what this partnership will mean to the gamers of the world.
