The first batch of reviews are in and things are looking good for Kojima as we approach the worldwide launch of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on June 12.
- PlayStation Official Magazine (UK): 10/10
- PlayStation Official Magazine (US): 10/10
- PlayStation Official Magazine (Italy): 10/10
- PlayStation Official Magazine (Dutch): 9.6/10
- LEVEL (Sweden): 10/10
- Joypad (France): 19/20
- Jeuxvideo Magazine (France): 18/20
I always take the “Official” reviews with a pinch of salt, but the last three slightly more “independent” ones also look good. The cynic in me has to wonder what deal the publications had to do in order to secure the early review, but I can’t help getting excited. As a MGS fan (and remember, just like Quantum physics, if you think you understand MGS then you don’t understand MGS) I will definitely be getting a copy; as a Kojima title you are pretty much guaranteed an amazing experience, but when I will find the time to play it I don’t know. I already have to divide my time between GTA IV, CoD4 and Oblivion (which I still haven’t finished) not to mention my wife, kids, job and friends. There just isn’t enough time in the day. It’s all getting too much, am I getting old?
PS. Just found this too. Hard to read but worth it.

While I imagine the game is amazing, most of those are official magazines. Reveiw scores arn’t worth the paper they’re printed on these days anyway, not to mention ones that are on the payroll of console makers.
Because MGS4 isn’t multi platform different consoles wont be competing to make their version look better and that might add a little more credibility. The whole GTA IV reveiwing thing was an utter stitch up.

I agree. For a more independant point of view I go for PSM3 magazine. I have been a subscriber for years and I find their reviews to be very accurate. I can’t think of a time that I have disagreed, ever.
