6 steps to making a successful Wii game

Use your popular licenses

Guitar Hero 3 and Resident Evil 4 are true sequels to existing licenses that are immensely popular worldwide. They are also two of the most successful Wii games to date; both having sold well over a million copies. This poses a unique problem for developers, as the teams working on their premiere franchises are typically the most talented and technology oriented. So far this has meant that true sequels to series like Prince of Persia and Soul Calibur are turning up on the PS3 and 360 as opposed to the Wii. Capcom have sensibly bucked this trend with Monster Hunter 3, which will inevitably reward the company with enormous sales. Yet this remains the simplest, but least followed path to success on the Wii.
