Make good games
Namco illustrated how not to follow this step perfectly. Having made the smart decision to create a spin-off of the Soul Calibur series, they released the truly awful 3rd person action title Soul Calibur Legends, which failed critically and commercially. Grasping defeat from the jaws of victory seems to have spurred Namco on however as the company is now releasing a sequel to their GameCube RPG, Tales of Symphonia. Previews for the game have been promising, which combined with the popularity of the license should result in a fairly predictable sales success for Namco Bandai.
