Creating a world that’s both appealing to children as well as adults seem to be an impossible task for many Wii developers. Examples of games that have suffered in the marketplace at least partly due to their kiddie looks are numerous: Zack & Wiki, Opoona, Dewy’s Adventure, Elebits… Going with a cartoonish or even cel-shaded look for a game is fine, but alienating a large chunk of your audience simply because you’ve crossed the line from stylized to childish is not. Amazingly Dewy’s Adventure featured some of the most advanced visual effects yet seen on the Wii, but because of its nauseatingly rainbow hued world, few gamers wanted to experience them.
