Capcom announces Spyborgs for Wii
BY Luke Walker Jun. 3rd, 2008 More on:

Capcom has just released information on that new Wii game it was teasing us about, a brand new IP Spyborgs. I’m glad that Capcom didn’t announce another Resident Evil remake or something like that; and, while I would have loved a new Mega Man, it is good to see something fresh. But new and fresh hasn’t always worked for third parties on Nintendo platforms. Thankfully this game shouldn’t have that problem.

Spyborgs is the first game to come out of the newly formed development team Bionic Games, which is made up of former Insomniac Games and Impact developers. Games these people have worked with include Ratchet & Clank, Spyro, Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, Sims, Shrek, Legendary, Resistance: Fall of Man and Medal of Honor, so watch out.

Obviously the dev team rocks, but from the trailer the game has great potential too. The Saturday morning cartoon style and humor looks outstanding. Michael Haller, President at Bionic Games says “This game will make you laugh–for all the right reasons.”

This action-adventure game focuses on team dynamic utilizing 2-player co-op. Players choose from 5 bionic super spies to take on a group of wacky, dysfunctional super villains. In single-player mode the team mechanics are still the focus as you will switch between characters quickly to take on the different challenges and utilize each spy’s special abilities such as heavy firepower, martial arts, bladed weaponry, acrobatic skateboarding skills or pure robotic destruction.

Hopefully we’ll have more news on Spyborgs and hopefully more from Capcom at E3. Plenty of time to hear more details and get excited before the game’s release in 2009.
