Alone in the Dark goes gold, makes Central Park scarier
BY Chris Holzworth Jun. 13th, 2008 More on:

Alone in the Dark has finally gone gold, and is en route to hit retail shelves on June 20 in Europe and June 24 in North America for Xbox 360, PC, Wii, and PlayStation 2… but not PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, PS3 owners will have to wait until this fall to get their New York City scare on. On the bright side, the PS3 version of Atari’s latest scare-fest is being tailored specifically for Sony’s console and, according to GamePro, will boast exclusive episodic content.

It’s cool to see so much buzz over this game, considering the franchise’s colorful history. While the first game pioneered the survival horror genre back in ‘92, the rest of the series never managed to step up to giants like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Then there was the whole Uwe Boll film adaptation mess. The film where Tara Reid played a scientist and Christian Slater was cast as the series’ protagonist Edward Carnby, remember? It didn’t go over so well.

All the same, 2008 is shaping up to be a good year for survival horror fans. Hit the jump and check out Alone in the Dark’s latest trailer.
