Faking the Band is a weekly feature detailing the latest in downloadable content for Rock Band.
You just can’t trust the big names, can you? First, they tell you a certain album will hit Rock Band the week of June 17, then they change their minds. To quote the Thompson Twins: “Lies, lies, lies, yeah!” Luckily, Sean Baptiste, Harmonix’s Director of Community Development and all-around main Rock Band man, made things perfectly clear on the game’s official forums. Apparently those of you itching to play the Pixies will have to wait until the next installment of Faking the Band! (That means the week of June 24 for those inconstant readers. Shame on you for your lack of commitment!)
So what’s shooting down the electronic pipeline instead? Another genre-garbled, musical grab bag. First up, we’ve got two Avenged Sevenfold tracks from last year’s Black and White Album. Next is “Hammerhead,” the first single from the Offspring’s fast-approaching Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. To finish things off, the barely-teenage band Crooked X drops a “Rock N Roll Dream” on us all.
Disappointed about Doolittle? So am I, but don’t fret. If Sean says June 24, then it’s June 24. The man keeps his word, unlike a certain acronym I know. Keep strong for one more week, and you’ll have a gamut of styles to play in the meantime.
Oh, for you PS3 users out there, remember that your DLC comes out on Thursdays and costs exactly the same as the 360 content, e.g. 160 MS points = $1.99 on the PSN.
No pack this week. [160 MS points for first three; Crooked X available for 80 points]
